A few months ago, I was heading home for the holidays. I had pumped my tires beforehand, knowing that it would be a long drive. Halfway through our trip, about 100km away from the last town, the car suddenly started to shake. My cousins and I immediately started praying in tongues and I asked God for a safe place to stop so that I could check what was going on.

As we were praying, we saw a patch of open grass beside the road where we could safely stop.

I concluded that it was probably an engine problem because while we were driving, I didn't feel anything happen to the tires and I still had full control of the car. To my surprise, the problem was the front right tire! Going as fast as we did, I should not have had any control over the car - but God must have taken control at that point!

I experienced that I should 'hold out my thumb' to ask for a lift. The first car that came towards us stopped and even offered us their spare tire.

I stand amazed at how God protected us that day and even provided someone to help us!

Our geyser\s pressure valve has been broken for a long time, which causes us to lose a lot of water. We eventually started collecting the leaked water in buckets to avoid wasting it, and my mom keeps these buckets in the bath so we can use the water to flush the toilet. A plumber once told us it would cost R1500 to replace the valve, but we didn't have money for that so we couldn't repair it at that time. So every time she noticed water dripping, my mom would ask the Lord for a way to miraculously help us afford the repair.

One day, she noticed a loud and rapid downpour into the buckets in the bath. A pipe had burst in the roof! The insurance sent someone out to repair it and we thought it would be good to replace the broken valve too. My mother told the plumber she only had R700 to fix it, and after confirming that it usually costs R1500 to fix, he said he would fix it for R700 anyway. He even had to drive to buy a pressure valve and still charged only R700.

The Lord takes care of His children.

I asked God (with all respect), “Now that You have seen me through the birth of our baby and the provision we needed, how do we move forward with my husband not working?” I received no answer. I waited. I prayed. I cried. I then surrendered to Him, realising that it's not my fight anymore.

A week after that, my husband started working!

My journey was one of time, patience and obedience. When you go down on your knees, He will lift you up. Keep your faith in Him- always. His time and ways are not ours.

God brought life to dead bones. That is what He did for me. He brought life where medically there was no life. He brought peace where the storm was raging. He gave us more than enough where there were only 5 loaves and 2 fishes. I've fought this battle on my knees and God gave us the victory. God is GOOD and in CONTROL, despite the challenges and circumstances we face. Let the end of your human effort be the start of our Heavenly Father’s story, saying “BUT God…”
